MAGNITUDE is an online quarterly comprised of poetry, fiction and nonfiction by members of the Litquake, and Lit Crawl communities. Every piece offers the reader an intimate, unique perspective of what it’s like to be behind the scenes of the largest literary festival on the West Coast, as well as the burgeoning Lit Crawls in New York and Austin, TX, and soon, Seattle and London.

Have you ever written a poem about standing in a crowded pub, or bookstore, or laundromat in the Mission, listening to an author read during Lit Crawl? Or maybe you’ve written about going on a wild quest for more ice after the keys for the famous Litvan were tossed to you by an anxious producer? What about a weird conversation you had with Frank Chu at a zine-publishing panel at the Chrome Bags Store in SoMa? Or a fiction piece about being one of the graffiti artists in Clarion Alley in the middle of all the Lit Crawl mayhem? Or perhaps you danced with Stephen Elliott at the after party and he gave you some writerly advice?

It would be a shame to keep these wonderful words to yourself, don’t you think? We want to read them! Send your poems, stories, creative nonfiction and art/photography about or inspired by your Litquake experiences to magnitudereview@gmail.com.

MAGNITUDE IS SEEKING A DESIGN INTERN!!! Our wonderful-yet-overworked art director is in search of a reliable, enthusiastic, part-time creative. You must have a passion for the arts, deep respect for the written word (naturally!), and an unhealthy obsession with precision. Adobe CS4 skills, open email and phone communication channels, and a whatever-it-takes-to-meet-the-deadline attitude are also required. Carrots: the opportunity to pair striking visuals with literary expression, realization of your aesthetic input in digital print, a shout-out in the credits, and the sweet, sweet knowledge that thousands of Litquake fans will view and appreciate all your hard work. Please email a cover letter and CV to magnitudereview@gmail.com.
