Litquake continues its Epicenter series at North Beach’s famed Tosca Café February 28 at 7 pm with novelist, essayist, film critic, and editor Steve Erickson in conversation with journalist Kevin Berger. Don’t miss acclaimed author Erickson’s only Bay Area appearance for his latest novel, These Dreams of You.

Erickson, SteveRevered as a writer’s writer, fans of LA-based author STEVE ERICKSON have included such literary heavy hitters as David Foster Wallace, Thomas Pynchon, Jonathan Lethem, and Kathy Acker. He has penned nine novels, often described as surreal and apocalyptic, including Days Between Stations, Tours of the Black Clock, Arc d’X, Amnesiascope, and his most recent, These Dreams of You. Actor-director James Franco is adapting Erickson’s 2007 novel, Zeroville, as a feature film set to begin production this year.

Currently, Erickson is the film critic for Los Angeles magazine and editor of the literary journal Black Clock, self-described as “audacious rather than safe, visceral rather than academic, intellectually engaging rather than antiseptically cerebral, and not above fun.” In 2010 he received the American Academy of Arts and Letters award in literature.

Berger, KevinKEVIN BERGER is a Bay Area-based journalist. He is a former staff writer and editor at San Francisco magazine and Salon and is currently a contributing writer for the Los Angeles Times.
